We all need our go-to parks and recs to go to with the kids or even just to walk, so we made a list to highlight our favourites.

1. Hall Leys Park

Matlock DE4 3SX

The first in our list of parks and recs are, Hall Leys. Hall Leys Park got its 12th Green Flag certification in a row in 2019. The green flag signifies to visitors that their space adheres to the greatest environmental standards in order to maintain the globe clean and safe. There’s a cafe, a bowling green, a children’s boating lake, a children’s interactive wet play area, a miniature railway, a skateboard park, and even a tennis court in this park! This park offers a variety of activities to get you and your family outside, active, and breathing fresh air. They’ve also placed new accessible play equipment for disabled children and their friends and relatives in this park. This park excels in inclusivity and consideration for others.

2. Shipley Park

Slack Lane, Nr Heanor, Derbyshire, DE75 7GX

The second amongst our favourite parks and recs is Shipley Park. With 700 acres of land and 20 kilometres of peaceful walks in the countryside. Along the park’s bridleways, this park is ideal for strolling, cycling, and even horseback riding. This park has a lot of amenities, making it ideal for a long walk and a fun day out with the family. With a horseback riding track, a children’s play area, a cycling route, an events area, a pathway, refreshments, a nature walk, and on-site information, you won’t have any difficulty finding your way around during your stay. Picnic spots, restrooms, and even a wildlife area are all available. There’s even a shop where you and your kids may buy a souvenir!

3. Lea Gardens

Lea Gardens, Long Lane, Lea, Matlock, Derbyshire DE4 5GH

The last on our list of parks and recs is Lea Gardens. With flowers and wildlife covering around three and a half acres, it truly lives up to its garden title! Rhododendrons, azaleas, kalmias, and hundreds of other plants are among them. Within the garden, there is also a lovely tiny teashop. The teashop’s food is considered to be superb, and it’s the perfect complement to a stroll through the garden. Lea Gardens was founded in 1935 and has totally developed its own garden and plants. You will not be disappointed if you visit this magnificent garden!

Derbyshire is surrounded by beautiful parks and recs and they can be easily found. However, it is always good to know a few gems.
