1. Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk

Take a walk at one of the world’s greatest and most popular long distance trail in the UK. Whilst walking you will spot three national parks; Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors and The Lake District. It is an exhilarating adventure, and once completed is an achievement that will remain fondly in the memory for the rest of your life. The Coast to Coast is a tough and challenging walk; even forewarned many people still find it tougher than they expected, particularly over Lakeland. The key to success is careful preparation.

2. Cleveland Way National Trail

The Cleveland Way National Trail is a 109 mile (175 km) walking route through beautiful and ever-changing landscapes and scenery. Officially opened on 24th May 1969, it was the second recognised National Trail in England and Wales. Starting from the attractive market town of Helmsley, the Cleveland Way heads across the inspirational, and breathtaking heather moorland of the North York Moors National Park, before reaching the coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea. From here it’s a visual feast along the North Yorkshire coastline to Filey, passing old fishing villages and lively coastal towns. The National Trail runs through the famous smuggler’s village of Robin Hood’s Bay and the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Whitby – one of England’s best coastal towns and home to Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

3. The DalesWay

The Dalesway officially starts at Ilkley. It does, however, have links from Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate, and these open up the special challenge of walking from largest conurbation in England (the West Yorkshire cities) to largest lake (Windermere). From Ilkley however, you’ll still have the satisfaction of walking the full length of Wharfedale, thought by many to be the most picturesque of the Yorkshire Dales. You’ll then climb out onto the roof of England, crossing the great Pennine watershed with impressive views of the Three Peaks. Then you head for Lakeland!
