Go On a Great Adventure at RHS Garden Bridgewater This Summer

Why not spend your summer holidays with RHS Garden Bridgewater?

This summer, a Great Garden Adventure awaits you at RHS Garden Bridgewater, with an action-packed programme of holiday fun for all the family. From 23 July to 4 September,discover the wonders of the natural world on an explorer quest around the gardens and try something new with exciting hands-on workshops and crafts to bring kids big and small closer to nature.

Highlights

Explore the garden on the self-guided explorer quest every day throughout the summer holidays, and discover a programme of exciting activities for all the family at RHS Garden Bridgewater. The below activities take place on selected days and times, check the website for full details:

·         Enjoy storytelling and meet the minibeasts with ZooLab

·         Toddler Tuesdays: welly walks and storytime for 0–4-year-olds

·         Wellbeing Wednesdays: recharge with a mindful adventure walk

·         Bug hunts around the garden

·         Birds of prey displays with Wild Wings

·         Seed planting and craft workshops

Explorer quest
Daily, Sat 23 July – Sun 4 September
10am – 6pm, self-led trail
Explore a trail full of adventures and activities. Complete the challenges and unlock fun
activities to try at home.
Suitable for all the family.

Interactive story time with ZooLab
Mon 25 July, Fri 1, 5 August, Mon 12, 19, 26, 29 August
10.15am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1.45pm, 2.45pm and 3.45pm
Hear tales of garden adventure written for Bridgewater from the ZooLab Ranger and get up
close to some of the mini-beasts who have a starring role in it.
Suitable for all the family.

Wild Wings Birds of Prey
Fri 29 July, Mon 1, Fri 12, 19, 26 August, Fri 2 September
11am – 4pm, Middle Wood Events Marquee
With a daily flight at 1pm on the lawn by Moonbridge Water

Join local sanctuary ‘Wild Wings’ and learn about the amazing birds of prey in their care. At
1pm, come along to the lawn by Moonbridge Water to experience these incredible creatures
in flight!
Suitable for all the family.

Toddler welly walk and story time*
Tuesdays between 26 July and 31 August
10.15am and 11.30am, meet at Welcome Building; 1pm, meet at Middle Wood Events
Enjoy an hour and a half of fun and exploration with your little ones and take part in exciting
welly walks in the garden and woodland and a special story time.
*£2.50 per child; suitable for children under 4, but older siblings welcome.
Pre-booking essential – booking coming soon.

Planting and craft activities
Tuesdays and Thursdays between 26 July and 1 September
Suitable for all the family.
Drop-in 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Join in with fun hands on crafts or planting activities. Activities advertised in the garden on
the day.
Suitable for all the family.

Mindful Nature Trail
Wednesdays, 10:30am, 11:45am, 1:30pm, 2:45pm (Please arrive 5 minutes early to
settle in.)

This mindful family session invites you to notice the wonder of nature and find some
peaceful moments together. What will you notice about Bridgewater? Perhaps the leaves
dancing in the wind or flowers glowing in the sunshine? Magical kingdoms in the clouds or
friendly birds and bees? You will be guided through nature connection activities and calm
moments by Children’s Mindfulness Teacher Jess. The walk will involve movement, stillness,
sharing, reflecting and collecting nature treasures you may find.
Suitable for children aged 5+ and parents/carers.

The Big Bug Hunt
Thursdays between 28 July and 1 September
Duration: 20-30 minutes

Alongside the Bridgewater education team, head out into the garden and woodland to
discover the world of creepy-crawlies. What habitats will you explore, and what mini-beasts
will you meet along the way?
Suitable for children aged 5+.

Billy the Blackbird: Storytelling and craft session
Fri 2 September
Storytelling sessions at 1pm and 2pm, lasting 30 minutes max, with drop-in bird
feeder craft until 3:30pm.

Join local author Jennifer Doyle for an afternoon all about the joy of garden birds. Hear a
story about Billy the Blackbird, who is getting ready to make his first trip out of the nest, and
learn about how to look after birds at home and make a bird feeder to get you started.
Signed copies of ‘Billy the Blackbird’ will also be available on the day.
Suitable for all the family.

All sessions free with garden admission unless otherwise stated.
RHS Members and children under 5 go free.
