Hever in History and Jousting
Immerse yourselves in living history encampments and experience crafts, cooking, and battle displays from the Middle Ages to as recent as 20th Century as part of Hever in History (27 – 29 August).
Get up close to weaponry and suits of armour and try them on for size.
The popular Summer Jousting Tournament which runs on selected dates in July and August will be coming to a close for the season.
Grab the last chance to see the thrilling action, stunts and falls following the procession of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn from the Castle forecourt to the arena. Battling it out in the saddle and on foot in one-to-one combat, the valiant knights will compete for points to find this season’s ultimate champion.
Bring a blanket or watch the joust in style from the medieval spectator stands. The spectator stands are available for a small cost (£2.00 per seat) on a first-come, first-serve basis. Then choose which knight to support and cheer them to glory.
Get into the spirit of the event by purchasing shields, swords and knightly armoury and other Hever branded goodies and test your skills with family and friends.
It is also the last chance to be entertained by the falconry displays from Birds of Prey Willow Centre in Sevenoaks with two displays a day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
A visit to Hever Castle is a perfect day out for the whole family with 150 acres of open space, glorious gardens, the fun Water Maze (will you get out without getting wet) and three play areas including the Tudor Towers adventure playground.
Bring a picnic and find the perfect spot in the stunning grounds or be tempted by a selection of mouthwatering food and drink from outlets across the site.
Also try your hand at archery or boating on the Hever Lake (daily during school holidays – extra charge).
