2. Swallows Leisure Centre
At the Swallows Leisure Centre, they have lots of activities aimed at children. They have a swimming pool with features including a flume, waves, pirate ship, and giant inflatable slide. Every Saturday evening we have H2O pool parties from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm with DJ’s games and lots of interactive fun.
They have a gym with specialised junior sessions to help improve your fitness, a 6 court sports hall for activities such as badminton, football, and basketball. We run courses during term times so come along and learn new skills at football, badminton, and fencing.
In the school holidays, they run a fantastic play scheme with fun activities including swimming, soft play, and bouncy castle, arts and crafts, team games. They also have a brand new adventure world soft play area with an underwater theme.

3. Visit the Royal Engineers Museum
Perfect for families obsessed with military history, the Royal Engineers Museum in Gillingham tells the story of the Corps of Royal Engineers over 300 years.
There is a huge collection of weapons, rockets and jets, perfect for any budding mechanics in your family.
The galleries span centuries of history, from Victorian engineering, to World War One and Two memorabilia, to a huge chunk of the Berlin Wall.
The Royal Engineers Museum, on Prince Arthur Road in Gillingham, is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm. It is closed on Mondays, except for bank holidays.

3. Explore Chatham Historic Dockyard
If you want to spend an entire day surrounded by history, then the Historic Dockyard Chatham site is an excellent contender.
The huge 80 acre site has a wide range of attractions, both indoor and outdoor, which make it perfect for a day with intermittent rain and sunshine.
Plus, this year the Dockyard is celebrating its 400th anniversary with a huge variety of activities suitable for all the family.

5. Go underground and explore Ramsgate Tunnels
You can take a guided walk through the UK’s largest network of civilian wartime tunnels in Ramsgate.
The hidden underground city became the largest and only known Civilian Deep Shelter Air Raid Precaution scheme authorised by Central Government.
People took up residence in the tunnels during the Second World War, with more than 300 living in the underground city in 1940.
Life underground became normal for the people of Ramsgate and street signs, canteens, shops and even a hospital were set up.
