Big families, small families, two mummies, two daddies, grandmas and grandads, and all of your aunties, come on in and make yourself at home at Norwich Theatre. They’re opening their doors to you as they celebrate families of all shapes and sizes!

Lost in the Land of Letterpress: Printmaking with Donna Thompson

Norwich Theatre Stage Two

Join them as they discover words that have been lost in the Land of Letterpress. Create your own abstract landscapes by hand printing with wooden letterpress type. What words will you find? What messages will you discover?

Families are encouraged to join this activity together as a group. All materials will be provided. Please wear clothes suitable for arts and crafts!

This workshop sits under Wild About Words as part of their Family Festival 2022.

They expect young children to laugh, shout out, get up and cry sometimes. That is all ok. You know your child’s limits best, and if you need to leave the session for a moment and then come back, that is ok too.

Running time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Age recommendation: 3+

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join Paul Goldsmith for a morning of giggles and glee as he recounts ticklish tales, and helps you to pen your own silly stories and build your storytelling confidence. Kids zone – no parents allowed!

Parents/guardians must drop off and pick up children from drop off point. Writing materials provided.

Say It With Stitch!

Norwich Theatre Royal

In this workshop, you are invited to share and stitch a slogan for nature, inspired by Norfolk Day. They have lots of words for different insects and animals in Norfolk and you might have your own words to share from your culture. Save the Bishy Barnabees! Make a home for the Dodman! They’ll be using recycled textiles to hand-sew unique messages in support of the natural world.

This performance and workshop sits under Wild About Words as part of their Family Festival 2022.

Say It With Stitch GY is a craftivism group based in Great Yarmouth who facilitate community engagement around meaningful topics, in particular environmentalism. They have hosted workshops, pop-ups and exhibitions in the local area since 2018, and work collaboratively as a collective of arts, creative and heritage practitioners.

Norwich’s Poetry Picnic

They’re having a poetry picnic ON THE THEATRE ROYAL STAGE!

Come together. Write Now!

A snack heavy celebration of music and poetry, with poet Simon Mole and musician Gecko. They’ll play fun (and quite silly) games to get to know each other and build your confidence and skill with words, then help you pen a poem with the power to send your picnic blanket skywards. And they’ll play some Beatles meets the Beastie Boys-style bangers of their own. Their guys poet is Sophie Lau.

Please note that this event is Bring Your Own Biscuits.

Your ticket is for one picnic blanket space on their stage (no need to bring your own blanket). Each blanket seats up to five people. You will also each receive a notebook and activity pack.
