Take a walk around the only remaining structure inside Framlingham Castle today, surprisingly there is a lot of things to see and do unlike during the 17th and 18th centuries. The workhouse served as both a shelter and a source of employment for local paupers. Take a discovery tour of the castle’s magnificent wall walk, where you’ll be standing on history at an astounding 10.5m high and over 800 years old. The wall has been preserved and is suitable for walking on. Framlingham Castle has set you the task of counting its chimneys, which are the country’s oldest surviving 12th and Tudor chimneys. Framlingham provides a variety of historical activities for you and your children to enjoy. ‘Who Eats What?’ is one of the activities you may anticipate participating in; you’ll have to match the food to the social class that would have consumed it; this game was inspired by Duchess Margaret Brotherton.

Why do I need to book pre-book a time slot?

Framlingham Castle is restricting the number of visitors each day in order to adhere to social distancing rules. You must reserve your time slots ahead of time.
