Snowdrop Walk starts 2023 season at Hever Castle

8 Feb – 28 Feb ’23

Hever Castle

The self-guided snowdrop walk will take visitors through the woodland areas, around the Outer Moat and into the colourful Winter Garden. The Winter Garden features flame-coloured dogwoods, ‘Early Sensation’ daffodils, heathers and winter shrubs.

The frosted topiary on the walk towards the Castle is a delight to behold in the winter months. Over on the outer banks of the moat, the crocus will begin to appear towards the end of the month too.

If visitors are feeling adventurous they can add in a walk around the 38 acre Lake.

Snowdrop Walk runs daily from the 8th February.

Early Spring Forest Bathing at Leonardslee

25 Mar – 25 Mar ’23

Leonardslee Gardens

What is Forest Bathing?

This Japanese practice is a process of relaxation; known in Japan as shinrin yoku. The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help both adults and children de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way.

Scientific research has been done to measure the healing benefits derived from simply being in a Forest/Woodland setting in a mindful way. It also gives you a chance to enjoy our forests and green spaces more and encourages you to want to take more care of them.

What to bring

  • Suitable clothing layers, including long sleeves and trousers. It protects skin from scratches from branches, brambles etc. You may get cold, even in the summer.
  • Sensible walking shoes or boots for woodland walking.
  • Lightweight folding stool or chair if you are uncomfortable sitting on a rug or mat.
  • Water and sun protection.
