And like most attractions there’s always a lot on, so we’ve put together a guide for the rest of the year just for you. Whether it’s a day trip or a planned stay at the Knights Village Glamping or Lodges or perhaps a sleepover at the Ceasar Tower Suites, you can find out what the best stuff to do there is right here.
Day-to-day Castle life
Once you show your ticket and enter the grounds, you will find yourself walking by the old stable houses which have now been converted to gift shops and then you’ll finally see yourself face to face with the grand Castle. Once you enter the castle you’ll be able to see the different exhibits within its walls, from the Ghost Tower to The Great Hall which by the way contains more than 1000 pieces of arms and armour.
Every day at Warwick Castle includes a number of different activities for visitors to explore and enjoy. Visitors times are usually split between attractions and live entertainment, the attractions consist of Zog and The Quest for the Golden Star, The Kingmaker, The Trebuchet, The Castle Dungeons and the Horrible Histories Maze, all of which are brilliant fun and family-friendly. The live entertainment tends to change a bit more but amongst current visitors, favourites are the Falconry Quest which is back by popular demand and definitely a must-see when visiting the castle.
Events
Afternoon Tea
Despite the castle’s already busy itinerary, they’ve gone above and beyond for their visitors and have organised a list of must-add-to-my-calendar events for you and the family this autumn/winter. The longest and currently running one is the popular Afternoon Tea at the castle. Housed in the beautiful Conservatory Tea House, Afternoon Tea consists of three tiers of classic afternoon tea delicacies, perfected with stunning T2 teaware, a spoilt choice of 10 different blends of loose leaf tea, or perhaps upgrading to add a glass of Prosecco to make it feel that little bit more special.
Speaking of special, Warwick Castle has introduced a new Christmas Afternoon Tea this year, for you to enjoy a pre-Christmas celebration, indulging on a selection of Christmas-themed finger sandwiches (roast turkey and cranberry, Wiltshire ham and English mustard, classic cucumber, and creamy Cornish brie with sweet tomato chutney) alongside a glass of spiced mulled wine to wash it down. More special savoury treats come in the form of succulent mini pigs in blankets with a sweet cranberry sauce. To add a sweet touch to the tea, tuck into a warm traditional sultana scone with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve and a selection of festive sweet treats including fruit cake and mince pie, all served with your preferred choice of fine loose leaf tea.
Oktoberfest
If Afternoon Tea is not really your style and you prefer the more wild and brutish side of history, then you’d be glad to hear that Oktoberfest is coming to Warwick Castle this year! This German originated bash will only be around for 4 days this October at Warwick so be sure to snag those tickets early on. The fest will have a variety of folk themed entertainment, a scrumptious selection of food vendors offering traditional German delights from sausages to pretzels and of course we can’t forget, authentic German bier so be ready to raise your steins!
Haunted House
Now is it truly October if the annual Haunted House doesn’t return to the castle right in time for Halloween? Well of course not! This year the Haunted House is back, better and scarier than ever as we welcome back the ghosts, ghouls, wizards and witches of Warwick Castle and relive the haunting truths of the 1,100 years of history. Search the castle grounds for eery sounds, uncover the Horrible Histories maze and brace yourself for the ultimate fright. And why not wait for the little ones to escape so you can enjoy the Castle After Dark, experience live music, mind-boggling acts and live shows through the night, accompanied by roaming characters as you try the street food and scray treats on offer, a night to definitely remember…or not.
