Visit Acton Burnell Castle
Acton Burnell Castle is a tranquil and beautiful shell of red sandstone situated in the heart of Shropshire. Bishop Burnell constructed it between 1284 and 1293, and twice, in 1283 and 1285, Parliaments were convened here. While a new home, Acton Burnell Hall, was constructed alongside the castle, the castle fell into disrepair and was left to deteriorate. However, the castle is an outstanding manor home built during the Middle Ages.
