The home was first visited by royalty in 1642 when King Charles I stopped there on his way to Shrewsbury, and it still has a large collection of historical furniture and architectural elements. The Staffordshire Yeomanry Museum is also located there.
The magnificent timber-framed structure, built-in approximately 1595 for the rich Dorrington family, is said to be England’s biggest surviving timber-framed townhouse from the Tudor period.
