Botticelli, Rubens, Gainsborough, Reynolds, Turner and Rossetti, Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Manet, as well as Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Rene Magritte, have treasures in the galleries of the Grade I listed Barber Institute of Fine Arts. There’s also a stunning coin gallery, which houses Europe’s most important collection of Roman, Byzantine, and mediaeval coins, as well as outstanding works of decorative art and sculpture, and changing exhibitions and displays of prints and drawings – all housed in Birmingham’s finest Art Deco building.
The gallery is part of the University Of Birmingham and is home to some of the most fascinating paintings. The gallery’s mission is to promote the study and encouragement of art and music.
