In addition to providing a warm welcome, the Nature Discovery Centre provides visitors with an opportunity to learn more about the species that can be found inside the park itself. Numerous important habitats are found within the park, such as old-growth forests, flower-rich wildflower meadows, ponds with streams and marshy areas, among other things. A new Nature Discovery Centre has been constructed on the site of a disused mansion, and it has spectacular views over most of east London and beyond into Kent and beyond. There is a wide decked area to rest on sunny days, as well as light refreshments, snacks, and a gift store within the Nature Discovery Centre. Many exotic trees, such as the Cedar of Lebanon, Holm Oak, Monkey-puzzle, Giant Redwood, and Yew, were originally planted in the mansion gardens. Beautiful wildflower meadows may be found in the Park, where you can see Cuckoo Flower, Pignut, and Ragged Robin in the spring. Among the features are a diverse forest, several ponds, and a lake, in addition to a herd of Red Deer kept in captivity. The Woodpecker, the Nuthatch, and the Hobby are among the most notable birds. It is common to observe wild deer (Fallow, Roe and Muntjac). Several species of insects, including butterflies, dragonflies, and damselflies, may be found in the meadows and ponds, which provide excellent habitat. Corvids gather in large numbers near the deer pen during the winter months, forming a massive corvid roost. The top portion of the park is a more manicured parkland, whilst the bottom section is managed for wildlife, with hay fields and some mature forest and scrub as well as a small lake. The Nature Discovery Center and deer pen are both within walking distance of the park, however, dogs must be kept under control and kept on a leash.
