Viewed as a staple in the community, Chester Cathedral has been a cultural hub in the heart and soul of Chester for almost a millennia. As a centre of musical excellence as well as a unique blend of medieval and modern history, this Cathedral is absolutely spectacular.

The Cathedral offers a wide range of Worship services including Prayer services, Sunday School, Organ recitals, Singing club & Choir, Bible Talks, and much more.
Tower Tours
One of the best things to do in Chester is to visit Chester Cathedral and take our award-winning tower tour, Cathedral at Height.
This hour-long journey will take you to the top of their central tower, where you will be able to observe one city, two nations, and five counties. Along the route, you’ll get amazing views of the Cathedral from a high vantage point, learn about the Cathedral’s history, and see virtually the whole length of the Cathedral. It is certainly not to be missed.
Tours are offered on Fridays and Saturdays.
Library
A true hidden gem – With its extensive history, Chester Cathedral Library may be the oldest library in the North West.
Nearly 3,000 volumes of pre-1800 era books are housed in the Exhibition Library, which is the biggest room in the library. Some 1600 books from the Jacobson Collection are housed in the second and third rooms, respectively.
Refectory Café
The Refectory Café, located in our 13th-century monks’ dining hall, is a must-visit. Whether you’re visiting the cathedral, going shopping in Chester, or attending a business conference, our little cafe is the ideal place to stop for coffee or lunch.
