Since the 1200s, only one family line has held this magnificent and extremely secluded fortress. Following Edward I’s visit in 1298, numerous additional Royal visits occurred over the ages. See Chillingham’s terrifying dungeons, as well as ongoing restoration in the Great Halls and State Rooms, where tapestries, weapons, and armour are being brought back to life. They even have a torture room that is extremely genuine.
Day visits (6 April – 1 November 2019), group tours, ghost tours, and events are all offered at the Castle.
