Visit Chiltern Open Air Museum
Chiltern Open Air Museum in Buckinghamshire was founded by volunteers in 1976, and opened to the public in 1981. The Museum is a charity that rescues threatened historic buildings, which would otherwise be demolished, and rebuilds and preserves them in a traditional Chilterns landscape.
37 historic buildings that are now part of the Museum have been rescued that were either homes or workplaces of ordinary people. Our Chiltern ancestors lived in or used every building on site at some point in time. In building a timeline at the museum, we have incorporated a unique landscape of rolling chalk hills, traditional crafts, and time-honored ways of life that have inspired people again and again.
There is also a working farm with livestock including sheep, goats, cows, and chickens at the museum. In addition, there is an orchard, small gardens, and Dig for Victory plots.
