This unique Willow Basket shop is located in Coates English Willow’s Willows & Wetlands Centre. We have a huge selection of willow baskets made by their skilled artisans from their own willow. The strong, practical everyday baskets will last for years, along with the more unusual and decorative items that will bring you joy and memories. Choose a gift or souvenir that is truly “made in Somerset” and will be enjoyed by future generations.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the shop, they can make it for you. Tell us what you want and they will do their best to make it happen. They can make a picnic basket for your vintage car or a log basket for that awkward corner next to the fireplace. If you don’t like the colours of the basket you see in the store or online, we can design one for you. Their bespoke service extends to garden willow hurdles as well as baskets.
If you want to make baskets as a hobby, you will find everything you need in their shop. The helpful staff can help you choose the right willow, tools, and even basket-making books so you can get started right away. Are you planning a Living Willow garden fence or feature? During the early portion of the year, living willow is available in kits or bundles.
Join one of their Guided Tours to learn how the baskets are made. We’ve been doing these for over 30 years and they’re still very popular. The knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff will take you from planting a willow sett to finishing a basket. You’ll never look at a basket the same way again!
Their unique museum is free to explore and learn about the days before plastic when baskets were used for almost everything. It’s full of old baskets and willow artefacts from over a century ago.
Given that not everyone enjoys shopping, a Willow Walk exploring this unique landscape might be a great alternative. Their Willow Sculpture Trail is a favourite among the kids. Simply pick up a map from the shop and complete the quest to win a free prize.
