The Heights of Abraham, a 60-acre woodland, is an adventurous day outing, for anyone looking for something fresh and outdoorsy. Because of its location surrounding Masson Hill and overlooking the attractive town of Matlock Bath, it was referred to as a “savage garden” when it was opened in 1787. For the first time, the Cable Car was put into service in 1984 and began transporting passengers from all across the Derwent Valley to Hilltop Park, where it had first been utilised in 1903.
Dudley Zoo & Castle
Hundreds of rare and endangered species live on an old forested hillside with a rich geological history near the ruins of the 11th century Dudley Castle, which also houses the world’s biggest single collection of Modernist Tecton buildings – as well as the country’s only vintage chairlift!
