The 2014 RIBA Stirling Prize for Architecture was awarded to the new Everyman, which opened in March 2014 on Hope Street between the two cathedrals to acclaim from both crowds and reviewers.
The theatre is driven by a passion for bold and spectacular theatre, an undying love for the city, and the belief that great theatre has the power to transform people’s lives.
The Everyman and Playhouse theatres are about a mile apart; the Everyman is on Hope Street, between both the cathedrals, while the Playhouse is on Williamson Square, underneath the Radio City tower.
At both places, visitors can see the great effects that the arts have on people of all generations every day. It has the potential to inspire people to think in new ways and ignite debate.
As a result, the theatre is more committed than ever to bringing acts to its stage and conducting family-friendly events that will pique the interest of younger audiences and inspire future generations.
