Longford Park, Trafford’s largest urban park, is located in Stretford and is bordered to the east by Chorlton and Hardy. Friends of Longford Park is a community organisation that works with Trafford Council to develop and promote the park as a vibrant community resource for people of all ages. Longford Park features six asphalt tennis courts that are open to the public and are free to use. They may be used by anyone of any skill and are now included in both the Trafford Tennis League and the Manchester Parks Tennis League. The Longford Park Tree Trail starts near the Cafe and takes you on a treasure hunt through some of the park’s most notable trees. It’s particularly fascinating for children since each tree has a hidden Fairy entrance. You may use your phone or tablet to look up a map or print one out ahead of time. In the year 2000, the wildlife garden was developed as a location of pure natural beauty and relaxation. This little part of the park, located among the formal and Japanese gardens, provides a peaceful atmosphere. Longford Park’s family café has expanded its menu to offer brunch and more upmarket cuisine in addition to its outstanding coffee, pastries, and real bread. Near the park’s north end are the football and rugby grounds, as well as the Firswood Community Centre. The newly constructed Disc Golf course in Longford Park is open to persons of all ages. Disc golf resembles traditional golf in appearance, but it is played with a frisbee disc rather than a club. If you wish to try them out, you may rent them from the café. In the park, there are two crown green bowling clubs: Longford Ladies and Longford Retired Gentlemen’s Club. Both groups meet for bowling from Easter and September, but they also socialise during the winter. Both organisations are always on the lookout for fresh recruits.
