Within the grounds, in the Grade II listed church, is where they are located. They are past the main UWE Glenside ‘Blue’ entrance on the left if you are ascending Blackberry Hill from the Broomhill direction. The road is known as the “White Entrance” by UWE and is located in front of the Old Tavern bar.
Glenside Hospital Museum offers a unique chance for individuals to talk about mental illness and disability by looking at the past. Being a dynamic educational community resource is their primary goal. They are adamant about speaking up and changing stigmatising beliefs about mental illness. Stigma is a result of silence.
Their collection of artefacts, photographs, and data from the Stoke Park Colony of Hospitals (1909 to 2000) and the Bristol Asylum and Psychiatric Hospital (1861 to 1994) offers illuminating insights into the treatment of patients with mental health issues as well as opportunities to reflect on our own wellbeing.
