Ilminster Arts Centre is a thriving, volunteer-led community asset dedicated to bringing top-quality arts to Ilminster and the surrounding area. They are based in a beautiful 18th-century former Unitarian church and every year welcome some 30,000 visitors through their doors. The Arts Centre hosts a regularly changing programme of exhibitions throughout the year, showcasing work by well-known local artists as well as those from further afield. Ilminster Arts Centre also runs an eclectic programme of top quality jazz (some of the best names in the UK and international jazz come to play here), classical, folk and world music.
The Arts Centre runs a busy programme of hands-on workshops, led by expert teachers, with popular classes including watercolours, oil painting, slow stitch, clay sculpture, stained glass, pastel pencils, children’s art workshops. Their Craft Shop sells a carefully curated selection of work by local makers, along with greetings cards by West Country artists. Their award-winning cafe is licensed and serves delicious home-cooked daily specials, sandwiches and paninis. Ingredients are sourced from local suppliers wherever possible, and their teas and coffees are Fairtrade.
