Locally based at Lancaster University, Lancaster Arts (previously Live at LICA) brings a plethora of top-tier UK and international artists to the city every year through public programmes featuring professional theatre, dance, exhibits and concerts. Lancaster Arts is part of the Live at LICA organisation. The Peter Scott Gallery, Lancaster International Concerts, and the Nuffield Theatre are just a few of the venues that are housed inside the Great Hall complex.
In addition to being the University’s arts supplier, Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University offers locations and activities that are available to the general public, as well as students and faculty. It organises a diverse range of music, theatre, visual arts, dance, and spoken word exhibitions and events throughout the course of two seasons, in the fall and spring. The Nuffield Theatre as well as the Peter Scott Gallery have long collaborated with the Lancaster Institute for such Contemporary Arts to provide performances by artists whose work is aligned with the curriculum of academic courses at the institute. Lancaster Arts is an integral element of the University’s 2020 Strategy, which encourages students and faculty to interact locally and globally with topics and debates that are relevant today and in the future.
