The Lion Salt Works, located within the village of Marston, near Northwich, has been restored to its former glory as an open-pan salt manufacturing plant. The property is next to the Trent and Mersey Canal and is in close proximity to the Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse, as well as the historic Anderton Boat Lift, among other attractions. This £10.23 million initiative, which opened its doors in June 2015, takes visitors on a fascinating trip through the history of the country’s only open-pan salt production facility. When you visit the site and its rebuilt buildings, you will learn about the operation of the salt works as well as the influence of salt on the people, economy, and environment of mid-Cheshire, England.
