The Maidenhead Heritage Centre is an excellent site to learn about the fascinating and diverse history of Maidenhead.
As well as the ongoing Story of Maidenhead exhibition with Roman Dress-Up and other regular family activities, the Sammes Gallery hosts five free exhibits a year, ensuring that there is always something fresh to see and do. For more information, see the website.
It is located on the first level of the museum and is an Exhibition and Archive dedicated to the Air Transport Auxiliary, as well as a fantastic Spitfire simulator. Grandma Flew Spitfires is located on the first floor of the museum.
Be advised that the simulator is quite popular. There is an entrance fee and advance reservations are required. It is also only available to aspiring pilots who are at least nine years old!
