Mother Shipton’s Cave, the birthplace of the legendary prophetess, is nestled amid an ancient forest along the Nidd River. It’s close to England’s oldest tourist attraction, the Petrifying Well. The tale of Mother Shipton and the seas that transform items to stone is told at this site. The new adventure playground, which offers equipment for children of all ages, is open to the public. There is also lots of seating, making it ideal for a picnic with the family. Dogs are permitted in all parts of the park, with the exception of the adventure playground, which is closed to dogs for health and safety reasons. Weather conditions may affect access to the adventure playground.
