Donington Park, one of the world’s most globally recognised and historically important courses, continues to stage major national and international events and has benefited from a multi-million pound renovation initiative by new operator MSV.
Initial improvements included significant resurfacing of paddock sections and internal roads, a number of new bathroom buildings, a new circuit office, a new grandstand overlooking Hollywood Corner, and Garage 39, a magnificent new bar and restaurant in the middle of the paddock. More enhancements were made in 2019, including the building of a new main pedestrian entry, upgraded marshal posts, campground renovations, and a new Pit Lane Suite.
The yearly visit of the FIM Superbike World Championship is the circuit’s main event, while fan favourites include the Bennetts British Superbike and Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championships. The yearly schedule includes British GT and F3, British Truck Racing, the Donington Historic Festival, and the Classic Motorcycle Festival, as well as hundreds of club car and bike meetings.
Donington Park is well-known not just as a racing facility, but also as the site of the Download rock festival, which draws tens of thousands of music lovers each year. Throughout the year, the facility hosts a broad range of exhibits, shows, and other music performances.
Donington Park is in an excellent location, with large cities such as Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester nearby, and Birmingham less than an hour away. The track is accessible by the adjacent M1, A50, and A42 highways, while foreign visitors may fly into the nearby East Midlands Airport, which has a major terminal only two miles from Donington.
