Visit Parham House & Gardens
Simon Jenkins has named this house as one of England’s top twenty best houses in his book England’s Thousand Best Houses. An Elizabethan house with a famous needlework collection, artwork, and furniture is idyllically situated in the heart of a deer park below the South Downs. The spectacular Long Gallery is the third-longest in England. There is a beautiful herbaceous bordered walled garden as well as pleasure grounds on the four-acre site. Since its foundation stone was laid in 1577, only three families have lived in Parham. Throughout the years, its beauty and tranquillity have remained unchanged. Lady Emma Barnard, her husband James, and their family live in the house, which is now owned by a charitable trust. Open from Easter Sunday until the end of October. Please see the website for days and times.
