This theatre is managed entirely by volunteers in Colne, Lancashire, in the north-eastern part of England’s Pendle region. The Pendle Hippodrome Theatre Company, which operates as Pendle Hippodrome Theatre Limited, owns and operates the venue. The structure was initially constructed as a cinema & variety theatre, which opened its doors in 1914.
The Pendle Hippodrome Theatre offers a variety of events throughout the year, including musicals, plays, concerts, fairs, and other gatherings. The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service was presented to the Pendle Hippodrome Theatre in June of this year (2015-2016). This is the most prestigious award presented to local volunteer organisations across the United Kingdom in recognition of their exceptional efforts in their own neighbourhoods.
