One of Devon’s floral pleasures is Plant World Garden Centre. The garden, which is located between Torquay and Newton Abbot, is designed to symbolise the world’s five continents. Countless unusual and exotic plants that are rarely seen outside of their home regions may be found in our inspiring gardens. Plant World Gardens, the world’s first ‘Map-of-the-World Gardens,’ was planned, built, and planted in 1986. They propose that tourists spend at least half an hour walking around the ‘World Map’ and learning about the many florae that thrive in different nations. The grounds provide unrivalled vistas, with verdant Devon hills and woods all about, framing distant views of the tidal River Teign. The adjacent rare plant nursery was built to allow visitors to take plants and trees they had observed flourishing their home with them. Don’t miss their beautiful café, which has unrivalled views of the Teign Estuary and one of the most magnificent vistas in the country. Plant World is going to be a lot of fun for the whole family!!
