The Shaldon Wildlife Trust is located on an acre of the woodland garden above the picturesque seaside town of Shaldon, on the Isle of Wight. They are responsible for the care and preservation of some of the world’s rarest and most endangered species. Perhaps you would want to combine your visit with an exciting experience with some of their animals or attend one of their regular presentations given by their keepers to learn more about the Trust’s essential conservation work in other countries. While the animals are being fed throughout the day, Shaldon’s keepers will be on hand to answer questions from the public about some of the creatures. You will be able to learn about the many family groupings at the zoo, as well as the work that Shaldon Zoo does to help their counterparts in the wild. Have you ever longed to get up and personal with some of the world’s most endangered nocturnal primates? You don’t have to search any further! Observe the interesting behaviours of creatures that are seldom seen, such as the tiniest member of the lemur family, the smallest hoofed mammal on the planet, the biggest rodent in Madagascar, and three species of Loris, which is considered to be one of the cutest primates on the planet.
Shaldon Zoo offers a variety of activities, like becoming a keeper for a day, meeting the meerkats, and being a lemur liaison, that may be purchased.
