At the heart of Shrewsbury, the Museum & Art Gallery is housed in the 19th-century Music Hall and the 13th-century Vaughan’s Mansion, a Grade II* listed antique merchant’s mansion dating back to the Middle Ages. Two galleries for temporary exhibits are available in addition to the five permanent galleries of Shrewsbury and Shropshire history. The permanent galleries include the Roman, Medieval, Tudor, and Stuart Galleries, as well as the Shropshire Gallery and the Tudor Galleries. Among the facilities of the museum are a café, a visitor information centre, and a museum store, where visitors may buy tickets for guided tours and activities. As well as local products, the store provides a broad selection of items from the county of Shropshire.
