The Solway Aviation Museum showcases a collection of aircraft, relics, and exhibits that showcase Britain’s global leadership in aircraft design and innovation. To conserve, exhibit, and interpret Britain’s aviation history. The museum is solely operated by volunteers who are all aviation enthusiasts and donate their time to help preserve Cumbria’s aviation heritage. Many have acquired abilities and talents via their employment in aviation or as veterans, while others have a passion or expertise to share.
The collection includes postwar British planes from the Royal Air Force’s 1950s and 1960s era, many with local connections. In addition, they’ve adopted a few additional postwar aircraft worth repairing and saving. The Bluestreak Room has photos, components, and equipment from that project.
