The gallery, which is named after Barbara Hepworth, one of the most significant painters of the twentieth century who was born and raised in Wakefield, hosts major exhibits of the greatest worldwide modern and contemporary art, as well as specialised galleries dedicated to Hepworth’s work and process.
Throughout the year, they host a variety of fairs and marketplaces to help artists and artisans. Furthermore, its award-winning educational programme engages and inspires families, communities, and educational institutions.
Wakefield’s art collection is housed in the Hepworth Wakefield, which includes works by Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron, L.S. Lowry, Barbara Hepworth, and Henry Moore, as well as important contemporary artists such Frank Auerbach, Maggi Hambling, Anthea Hamilton, Martin Parr, and Eva Rothschild.
