The Hippodrome has been called one of the British seaside’s seven marvels. Built in 1903 by the famous circus showman George Gilbert, the Historic Hippodrome is Britain’s sole remaining entire circus structure. The small venue has hosted an extraordinary diversity of entertainment over the century, from magnificent water displays and stage acts to cinema and cine variety, and even serving as a military practise shooting range during WWII!
