Just a 10-minute drive from Keswick, take a stroll on the wild side. The emphasis is very much on conservation, teaching, and connecting with tourists against the backdrop of the Skiddaw mountain. The Keepers are eager to converse and love sharing their expertise and passion with others. A variety of fascinating presentations take place every day, bringing you closer to many of the park’s favourites. Wander through the lovely 24-acre parks and observe over 100 species. Since the park’s inception, the spectacular Bird of Prey flight shows has been a regular highlight, attracting an unusual mix of over 100 species ranging from Anaconda to Zebra. Brian the Lar Gibbon, the park’s Grandfather, is Europe’s oldest and enjoys pride of position in the park’s centre, where he and his family may be seen hanging from a large Oak tree. They are members of BIAZA and have worked with Zoo stud books to successfully breed species such as Lynx, Asian Fishing Cats, and Ring-Tailed Lemurs, to mention a few.
The park’s cafe, which specialises on home-cooked, healthy fare, is an amazing asset to the park and possibly provides the finest selection of meals, snacks, and sweet treats of any wildlife park in the country. If you want, there are also plenty of outdoor and covered picnic areas.
The gift shop has a wide variety of toys for all budgets and is the best place to go for animal adoptions and keeper experience packages. When the weather in the Lake District becomes bad, there is an outdoor play area as well as an indoor play area with soft play and a ball pool!!
