Visit The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter

This museum offers a unique insight into the workings of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter through a beautifully maintained jewellery workshop. Smith & Pepper, a jewellery manufacturing company, closed its doors after its owners retired in 1981, not realizing they had left a time capsule for future generations.

It is now a museum showcasing the metalworking legacy of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter through the narrative of the factory. Discover this remarkable time capsule with a fun guided tour. Learn about what it was like to work at the jewellers’ bench and watch live demonstrations of traditional jewellery skills.

The museum also has two self-guided galleries: ‘Story of the Jewellery Quarter,’ which looks at the history and development of the Jewellery Quarter, and ‘Earth’s Riches,’ which features jewellery produced from natural materials from all over the world.
