For decades, Looe has been a significant harbour, yet its nautical history has never been told. You may now learn about the past in a purpose-built heritage centre on West Looe Quayside, which is housed in a former sardine factory. Learn how they sent pilgrims to Galicia, exported pilchards from Looe to Italy, and sailed across the Atlantic to gather fish off the coast of Newfoundland. View their large photographic gallery, view movies about boat building, or take a virtual reality tour of a lifeboat Shout! They have a cafe on the premises, as well as a restaurant upstairs.
The Old Sardine Factory
The Old Sardine Factory Heritage Centre tells the story of Looe’s maritime history.
