Visit The Underfall Yard
The Harbour Master and the Docks Engineer are based in Underfall Yard, which also houses maritime companies such as boatbuilding, marine engineering, and metalworking. A stroll around the harbour or a ride on the Bristol Ferry will bring you close to the operating yard.
You may explore the historic industrial pump chamber as part of your tour, which houses massive electric engines that have powered Bristol’s hydraulic network for over a century. On a working day, you can see the workshops that are still in use to repair and maintain the vessels and the port; they are not open to the public, but a walk around the harbour pathway gives you a true sense of what life is like on the sea. The Power House Visitor Center has interactive displays that teach visitors about how the water levels in the floating harbour were regulated.
