In the Royal Borough of Windsor, this beautiful theatre, which is located just a short distance from the old Windsor Castle, is considered the crown jewel. Since 1817, we have been presenting plays in the United Kingdom, and we are the only non-subsidised producing theatre in the country with a 200-year history. The goal is to establish a globally recognised first-class regional theatre that develops and produces a core drama and theatrical programme for the benefit of all Windsor residents and visitors. By functioning as an important cultural centre that fosters involvement, learning, and engagement with the performing arts, we are assisting the growth of performers, creatives, staff, and audiences. In addition to debuts of new works, the theatre’s repertory includes classic drama, over 80 years of traditional pantomime, and premieres of new works, some of which go on to be performed in the West End. In addition to receiving works from theatrical organisations throughout the United Kingdom and internationally, the theatre creates and premieres performances in its home city of Windsor, as well as launching many national and international tours. The Theatre Royal has built a reputation for putting on high-quality productions, and we are now considered to be one of the country’s premier regional theatres.
