Towcester racecourse can offer everything from a burger and chips, all the way through to fine dining and VIP boxes. There are packages to suit all budgets, or you may just fancy cheering home your fancied runner from the terraces.
Fortunately most of the dozen or so races only last around 30 seconds so no real danger of your steak going cold or your white wine reaching room temperature.
Races are every Monday, Tuesday and Friday evening (gates open from 5pm). Or why not Sunday lunch (from 1pm). They can even sort you out a fabulous breakfast from 10am – 11am on Thursdays.

Well the good news is, if you fancy a flutter you can do so from as little as £1 per race and as for picking the winner. . . if you’ve shouted home Glory Liz, because you are reminded of a girl from school, or Franko De Tanko because you are reminded of a colleague at work (yes both are real greyhounds), don’t assume you have any less chance than the punter avidly studying form at the next table. (Racing virgins – have an infuriating habit of putting the self-proclaimed experts to shame).
Towcester is at its best during the summer with the highlight being the most famous greyhound race of all, the Star Sports & TRC English Greyhound Derby, with an ABBA tribute, Barnette’s, disco and karaoke along with the mirror men and stilt walkers performances and activities like face painting for children.
