Films, reconstructions, models, and vibrant displays of fascinating artefacts related to local industries, market towns, transportation, archaeology, and the building’s prior history are used to tell stories.
The museum is located in the former Northwich Union Workhouse. In the previous workhouse schoolroom, a special exhibition highlights life for the poor, and younger visitors may dress up and pretend to be workhouse prisoners learning so much about the 3 Rs!
In the remainder of the museum, you may learn about workhouse meals, meet some of the individuals who lived there and see the Master’s sitting room, which has been reproduced. You might also wish to take the workhouse quiz or the I-Spy trail to test your observation skills while seeking crucial artefacts.
