Take a trip to Whittington Castle
Be welcomed to Whittington Castle in Shropshire, England, near Oswestry. The ruins, which are breathtakingly beautiful and charming, are steeped in history, tales of brutal border fighting, passion, and folklore. A small rural community in North Shropshire, England, has secured a 99-year lease to administer the castle in the village’s heart. The Trust reopened the Castle to visitors in 2007 after restoring it with the help of a £950k Heritage Lottery Fund grant. In the Castle Tearoom, you can have a cup of tea or a piece of cake. Sandwiches made to order, soups to warm you up, and ice cream to cool you down. From toasted teacakes to muffins to milkshakes, you’ll find everything you need for your morning coffee or afternoon tea. Great value for money and a great place to stop for a while. Grounds are always accessible.
