Wingham Wildlife Park is located halfway between Sandwich and Canterbury, east of the lovely hamlet of Wingham. The park has considerably developed in recent years, currently housing over 200 species, large outdoor and indoor play areas, a variety of catering outlets, and a breath of fresh air with its green open spaces – ideal for a picnic in the summer!
Mandrills, penguins, Nile crocodiles, Aldabra giant tortoises, and smooth-coated otters are among the species found in this wildlife park that are not seen anywhere else in Kent. There are also species like the Spix’s night monkey that can’t be found in any other wildlife park on the planet!
With the addition of 29 life-like dinosaur replicas to the park as a permanent display in 2016, there is more to this park than simply the animals. These dinosaurs all move and scream, bringing the prehistoric age of dinosaurs to life for both children and adults — there are even picture opportunities where visitors may hatch out of an egg or sit in a jeep being chased by the 13-meter-long T-Rex.
Thanks to the construction of paved pedestrian ways around the entire park, you can take a stroll on the wild side. Walking around the park is only the beginning; there are keeper-led presentations and feed times throughout the day, as well as the opportunity to feed some of the animals, walk through enclosures with lemurs and even flamingos, and upgrade your visit to include a unique close encounter.
