RHS Garden Bridgewater will host a special Pride in Nature event on Sunday 10 April 2022, from 10am – 6pm.
A first for RHS Gardens, Pride in Nature will celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community in Salford and wider Greater Manchester and share the experiences and perspectives of members of the community who work in horticulture and the environment sector.
Writer, ecological grower and landscape designer Jack Wallington will chair a Q&A Panel looking at issues including the opportunities in the sector, the challenges facing LGBTQIA+ inclusivity and how to create a more diverse industry.
The event will showcase LGBTQIA+ organisations from across the region including The Proud Trust, LGBT Foundation, 42nd Street (42Q), Manchester Youth Pride and Salford Pride and there’ll be great opportunities for networking and the chance to dip into talks, workshops and performances, including a Vogue workshop with celebrated dancer and director Stuart Bowden.
There’s fun and fabulousness for families too with Drag Queen Story Time and artist Sian E Absalom will lead an interactive creative workshop where you can make your own natural flower wand.
The event is being held in association with Salford Pride and Salford’s Cultural and Place partnership as part of their ‘Rediscovering Salford’ project.
The event is free to enter with garden admission.
RHS Members and under 5’s go free.
