The museum is located across the street from Rugby School in the historic building where boot and shoemakers William and James Gilbert relocated from High Street in 1842 to expand their rugby football manufacturing business. Match balls have been hand-stitched on this site for over 180 years. A wealth of rugby memorabilia for rugby enthusiasts. This legacy lives on at Webb Ellis Ltd today, earning the company the distinction of having the world’s oldest continuous affiliation with rugby. The collection is divided into four sections, each with a different theme. The roots, the players, the game, and the ball are among them.

Join Hannah Cunliffe, Director of National Historic Ships UK (NHS-UK) in the next instalment of “In conversation with …” evening talks. The conversation with Hannah will be compered by Simon Stephens, Royal Museums Greenwich. Hannah will be talking about the work undertaken by National Historic Ships UK since it was first established in 2006 with a remit to represent the interests of historic vessels and their supporting infrastructure. She will look at current and past projects, as well as highlighting some of the successes and challenges of an organisation tasked with covering the whole of the UK with a very small team. She will reflect on the present state of the historic vessel sector and give consideration to what the future holds for Britain’s maritime heritage.
