Lights, Camera, Action: Famous Movie Sets In England
From Harry Potter to Aliens and many more. There have been hundreds if not thousands of films shot in the UK. We decided to create a list of some of the most iconic movies that have been recorded in England.
Take a look! You might find a place that is not far from your house.
Star Wars
Does this look familiar? Well, maybe George Lucas has changed it slightly with a little editing magic. But this is an iconic place for any real Star Wars fan. The Old Base might not be as spectacular as the counterpart in Yavin IV, but still has the great feeling of being part of such a fantastic trilogy of movies! In the picture on the right, you can even see daredevil Han Solo accompanied by Chewbacca.
But is not the only Star Wars location on this list.
If you are a fan of the new trilogy of movies you should recognise this place. The Lakes District area features quite heavily, being where many fighting scenes happened. Just being in the area you can still feel the X-wings zooming over the lake to attack the Imperial forces on the shore!
The next location might scare you a bit.
Dracula
One of the most iconic roles for Christopher Lee was Dracula in the Horror of Dracula.
The 1958 Dracula was filmed in Berkshire and not only that but, its 2020 BBC series counterpart was produced there. This iconic undead tale might not have been a hit during its time, but now as a cult classic and will forever be an iconic film in the horror genre. The studios have also reopened for visitors and it is something that you should not miss.
And talking about horror.
Alien
Alien was recorded entirely at Pinewood Studios, in the village of the Iver Heath. The alien sequel “Aliens” was more action-packed and exciting than its first instalment with Ridley Scott. But James Cameron knew how to produce a high-quality sequel worthy of the original, who doesn’t love to see Ripley kicking some Queen Alien Eggsack.
Check out for dates for when they allow visitors to come in it’ll be an experience that you will never forget.
Harry Potter
“You are a Wizard Harry” is one of many quotes from these famous movies.
From the mind of a British Author – J.K. Rowling was the wonderful wizardry saga of Harry Potter all most all of the sequences in the film were shot in England.
You should also check out Warner Bros Studios where you can walk through the iconic streets of Diagon Alley.
We can go on forever naming the movies and places that have been shot in the UK but there isn’t a spell that we know that could give you the time to go through it all – so join us next time as we continue our list of Famous Movie Sets In England.
