Raby Castle is surrounded by 200 acres of beautiful green grassland where red and fallow deer roam freely. Explore the park and walk around the ponds to see what kind of animals lives here. The castle is encircled by 5 acres of classic 18th-century Walled Gardens, which include beautiful yew hedges, a fig house, a rose garden, trees, plants, and aesthetic features. If you’re feeling really energetic, they also provide a Woodland Adventure Playground for kids, as well as bike rentals to explore the grounds and take in the breathtaking vistas.
The lush Woodland Adventure Playground, which is free to use, is nestled within part of Raby’s enormous forests. Children have been known to spend hours here playing on the rustic obstacle course, which includes an army-style zip wire, while adults can sit back, relax, and take in the beauty of Raby Park. There is a nearby car park and picnic area, as well as lots of open space for youngsters to run around in.
