Ahead of this year’s International Women’s History Month, they have been finding out more about the role that women have played throughout Cheddar’s past.
They’ll be celebrating the women of the Gough family, those ladies who were involved in charity and community work in the village, and as a profession that’s so important to Cheddar, you’ll be able to learn about female trailblazing female archaeologists, including one who has spent the last 10 years analysing bones and artefacts found in Gough’s Cave.
There are lots of interesting stories and characters that they are excited to share with you, as well as activities to keep the children entertained. Interested in archaeology? Have a go at finding fossils in their dig boxes. What to experience what it was like living at the time of the Gough Family? Take part in some Victorian dress up. There’s plenty of fun to be had for the whole family! Don’t forget, dogs are always welcome!
