Titanic is setting sail at the Kings Theatre. This emotionally charged and highly acclaimed musical, by Maury Yeston (Nine, Grand Hotel) and Peter Stone focuses on the lives of the passengers and crew aboard the maiden voyage of RMS Titanic – the ‘ship of dreams’. This spirited production has powerful and moving music, heartfelt lyrics and stories full of aspiration, love, hope and ultimately tragedy.
The Kings Theatre is staging this epic production with over 100 people participating on stage and behind the scenes. It has assembled highly talented local performers to bring this mightly story to our stage. The creative team includes Directors Charlotte Alldridge and John Paul McCrohon with Musical Direction from Andrew Woodford and Choreography by Jacqueline Willis.
In Third-Class the migrants, dreaming of a better life in the land of opportunity – America; the Second-Class couples imagining themselves rubbing shoulders with their social betters; and the First-Class millionaires, travelling with their families and their servants in oblivious opulence. All of them unaware that they are about to become part of the most tragic shipping disaster of the 20th Century.
For schools and groups, Konnect are offering an extensive education programme that takes their theatre as the starting point to explore the social history of the time, the separation of classes, and how this affected the lives of the men, women and children aboard the Titanic.
